About the role
The Medical Assistant position at Harbor is a full-time role (40 hours per week) located in Toledo. The role involves patient care under the direction of medical leadership and/or a licensed health care professional.
Responsibilities
- Assists provider with patient care.
- Provides patient/family education.
- Affords assistance with medication prescriptions and testing procedures as directed by providers.
- May assume responsibilities of determining and responding to the needs of patients and visitors when they contact the practice.
- Answers and/or triages patient phone calls.
- Schedules patients' appointments.
- Affords support, education, and consultation to clients, families, and/or significant others.
- Monitors clients to identify and minimize effects of psychiatric symptoms.
- Provides education on self-management of symptoms to client, families, and/or significant others.
- Affords assistance in increasing social support skills and networks.
- Coordinates indicated evaluations and assessments by internal and/or external providers.
- Affords assistance in gaining access to essential community resources.
Requirements
- Completion of a Medical Assistant program through an accredited college or university.
- Previous experience in Mental Health preferred.
- CMA or RMA test eligible.
- CMA or RMA prior to employment preferred.
- Must be able to perform clinical and clerical duties as needed.
- Electronic Medical Records experience preferred.
- Must demonstrate excellent customer service skills and a strong commitment towards achieving customer/patient satisfaction.
- Must be proficient and accurate in data entry and be able to navigate through Microsoft Windows based applications.
- Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with a variety of people and be a team player.
- When applicable, non-licensed staff will be required to complete 20 hours of CEUs every 24 months.
- BLS and NCI/CPI Certifications required within 90 days of employment.
