Veterinary Assistant

About the role

Bon Air Animal Hospital is a full-service veterinary practice in Richmond, Virginia, dedicated to providing high-quality, compassionate care for companion animals. The practice is looking for a full-time Veterinary Assistant to join its growing team.

Responsibilities

• Aid veterinarians and team members during examinations and procedures
• Safely restrain dogs and cats for exams, treatments, and diagnostics
• Prepare exam rooms, treatment areas, and surgical suites
• Clean, disinfect, and maintain hospital equipment and workspaces
• Support basic laboratory procedures (sample collection, preparation, and processing)
• Maintain awareness of hospitalized patients and report any changes to the medical team
• Provide compassionate care to patients and excellent service to clients
• Assist with feeding, walking, and maintaining patient comfort

Requirements

• Prior experience as a Veterinary Assistant or in an animal care role preferred
• Strong animal handling and restraint skills
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Compassionate, dependable, and detail-oriented
• Ability to lift up to 40–50 lbs and stand for extended periods
