About the role

Rhawnhurst Animal Hospital and Elkins Park Veterinary Hospital are seeking a compassionate, dependable Veterinary Assistant to join their collaborative team. The two hospitals work together as one cohesive practice, providing exceptional care to small animals and exotics.

Responsibilities

• Aid veterinarians during examinations, treatments, and procedures
• Obtain patient histories and accurately document medical information
• Safely restrain patients for exams and treatments
• Collect laboratory samples, including venipuncture when appropriate
• Perform in-house laboratory testing
• Prepare and fill medications under veterinary supervision
• Obtain high-quality digital radiographs
• Assist with hospitalized patient treatments and monitoring
• Educate clients on medications, treatment plans, and preventive care
• Maintain accurate medical records using Impromed software
• Clean, stock, and organize exam rooms, treatment areas, and equipment
• Provide exceptional client service while ensuring a positive patient experience

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of veterinary assistant experience in a small animal practice
• Comfortable assisting with patient restraint, sample collection, laboratory procedures, radiology, and pharmacy duties
• Experience with venipuncture preferred
• Strong communication and client education skills
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Able to multitask and remain calm in a busy clinical environment
• Positive attitude with a team-first mindset
