About the role

The Veterans Legacy Grants Program (VLGP), authorized under 38 U.S.C. 2400 note, provides funding to eligible entities to conduct cemetery research, produce educational materials, and promote community engagement related to the histories of Veterans interred in VA national cemeteries and VA grant-funded State and Tribal Veterans’ cemeteries.

Responsibilities

• Conduct cemetery research related to national, State, or Tribal Veterans’ cemeteries.
• Produce educational materials that teach about the history of Veterans interred in these cemeteries.
• Promote community engagement with the histories of Veterans interred in national, State, or Tribal Veterans’ cemeteries.

Eligibility

Eligible applicants include:

• Independent school districts
• Private institutions of higher education
• Nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education
• State governments
• Public and State controlled institutions of higher education

Pay

• Award ceiling: $400,000
• Award floor: $50,000
• Expected number of awards: 10
