Veterans Home LPN (Night Shift) - 36942

About the role
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) on the night shift, you will provide patient care within the scope of your license by preparing and administering prescribed medications and treatments, including IV therapies, maintaining medical records, and monitoring subordinate work to ensure compliance with patient care procedures and department policies. The role involves applying basic nursing principles, practices, and techniques following established healthcare standards in a long-term care setting.

Responsibilities
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments
- Perform IV therapies
- Maintain accurate medical records
- Monitor and ensure quality care provided by subordinates
- Apply general nursing techniques and practices
- Communicate effectively with patients and staff
- Operate a variety of medical equipment
- Make reports based on observations
- Maintain a helpful and sympathetic attitude toward patients
Requirements
- Must be licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or eligible for licensure in South Dakota
- Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, and recent developments in clinical procedures
- Ability to keep records, follow instructions, and make reports on observations
