About the role

Initially, you will start as a nursing consultant, with the opportunity to assess whether progressing to a two-year Master Advanced Nursing Practice program to become a Nurse Practitioner by September 2027 is a logical next step. You will work at the Vaccination Outpatient Clinic within the Infectious Diseases sub-department of the LUMC’s Center for Infectious Diseases (LUCID).

Your responsibilities include conducting vaccination consultations for LUMC patients who belong to medical risk groups due to their condition or immunosuppressive treatment. You will advise and guide patients, develop tailored vaccination plans, and coordinate with medical specialists as needed. Additionally, you will ensure accurate documentation in the electronic patient record and contribute to high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities

• Conduct vaccination consultations, including taking medical histories, developing advice and vaccination plans, and administering vaccinations.
• Prepare for consultations and handle documentation, including follow-up and visit reports.
• Consult with medical specialists when necessary and collaborate with colleagues at the Vaccination Outpatient Clinic and Infectious Diseases Outpatient Clinic.
• Contribute to study activities, maintaining contact with study participants and other stakeholders.
• Support clinical diagnostics and provide advice for suspected antibiotic allergies in outpatient and hospitalized patients.

As a nurse, you work under the supervision of a medical specialist; as a nurse practitioner, you work independently and consult as needed. You will collaborate closely with medical specialists, physician-researchers, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, outpatient assistants, and administrative staff.

Work environment

You will work within the Infectious Diseases and Vaccination Outpatient Clinic at LUMC. This clinic serves LUMC patients and travelers for preventive advice and vaccinations. The diverse patient population—ranging from medical risk groups to healthy travelers—makes the work highly varied, offering additional opportunities for nurse practitioners.

Qualifications

• Completed HBO Nursing degree and at least 2 years of relevant work experience.
• Valid BIG-registration.
• Willingness to pursue or already started the Nurse Practitioner (Master Advanced Nursing Practice) program.
• Fluent in Dutch (both written and spoken) and proficient in English to read and understand professional literature.
• An LCR-recognized basic training in travel advice is a plus.

Pay

As a nursing consultant, your salary ranges from €3,626 to €5,134 gross per month (scale 8M, CAO UMC) based on a full-time position. Starting September 1, 2027, the MANP program begins. Upon successful completion, you will be reclassified to scale 9M (€4,185 to €5,499 gross per month, CAO UMC). A 3.5% salary increase will take effect on May 1, 2027.

Schedule

You will receive a one-year contract with the possibility of extension based on mutual satisfaction. Upon starting the MANP program, your contract will be converted to a fixed-term appointment for the duration of the two-year training.
