Venture Capital Principal

About the role

Schematic Ventures is seeking a full-time Principal in San Francisco. The ideal candidate will have strong technical aptitude or an engineering background, excellent judgment, and a trusted network across founders, engineers, operators, AI builders, and investors. This is a senior investment role with potential to become a long-term path to partnership.

Responsibilities

• Source and win preseed / seed investment opportunities
• Build trusted relationships with founders, engineers, operators, and investors
• Develop investment theses around emerging technical markets
• Evaluate companies and lead diligence, technical research and financial analysis
• Manage the investment process from first meeting through close
• Work strategically with portfolio companies on fundraising, strategy and talent
• Promote community & brand through events, content, and programming

Requirements

• 2 - 4+ years of relevant venture capital experience
• Active network across SF founders, operators, engineers, and investors
• Demonstrated track record of investments, diligence, and work with early-stage companies
• Strong technical background or technical aptitude
• Genuine passion for technology, engineering, and early-stage investing
