About the role

The Michael Best team is seeking a Partner with 7+ years of experience to join their Corporate, Venture Capital and Emerging Growth team, “Venture Best.” The ideal candidate should be able to work in any of the firm’s offices, with a preference for those in the North Carolina market.

Responsibilities

• Represent startups and institutional investors in venture capital and emerging company transactions, mergers and acquisitions, startup formation, and general corporate governance.
• Triage issues with specialists in tax, intellectual property, employment, and other specialist areas.
• Experience in licensing and technology transactions and/or securities is a plus.

Requirements

• Strong experience representing startups and/or institutional investors in venture capital and emerging company transactions, mergers and acquisitions, startup formation, and general corporate governance.
• Experience triaging issues with specialists in tax, intellectual property, employment and other specialist areas.
• Experience in licensing and technology transactions and/or securities is a plus.
• Treat all colleagues with mutual support and respect.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.
• 7+ years of corporate or transactional experience.
• Strong drafting and organizational skills.
• Strong ability to manage clients and opposing counsel.
• Excellent academic credentials.
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
• Valid authorization to work in the U.S.

Pay

Final compensation will depend on experience, skills, and internal equity. Individuals in this role are eligible to participate in Michael Best’s bonus program, subject to the program’s conditions and restrictions.

Schedule

This position is considered full-time and is therefore eligible to participate in employer-sponsored benefits, including medical, dental, vision, as well as elective or voluntary life, disability, and accident coverage, paid holidays, paid time off, and eligible reimbursements. All full-time employees are eligible to participate in the firm’s 401k plan.
