About the Role
We are looking to add a Partner with 7+ years of experience to our Corporate, Venture Capital and Emerging Growth team, “Venture Best”. The partner can be located in any of our offices, with a particular desire for partners in the North Carolina market.
Join us and take the challenge of doing meaningful work supporting companies in fields like CleanTech, SaaS, life sciences, cannabis, natural foods, web3, biotech, AI and data analytics, among others.
Responsibilities
- Represent startups and/or institutional investors in venture capital and emerging company transactions
- Handle mergers and acquisitions, startup formation, and general corporate governance
- Triage issues with specialists in tax, intellectual property, employment, and other areas
- Experience in licensing and technology transactions and/or securities is a plus
- Treat all colleagues with mutual support and respect
Requirements
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school
- 7+ years of corporate or transactional experience
- Strong drafting and organizational skills
- Strong ability to manage clients and opposing counsel
- Excellent academic credentials
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
- Valid authorization to work in the U.S.

Pay
The annual compensation range for this role in our California, Colorado, District of Columbia, and Illinois offices starts at $240,000. Final compensation will depend on experience, skills, and internal equity. Individuals in this role are eligible to participate in Michael Best’s bonus program, subject to the program’s conditions and restrictions.
