Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance inspections on light & medium duty vehicles/equipment and assist higher classification of technicians with PM’s on all vehicles and equipment.
- Assist with Federal DOT inspections.
- Assist on dielectric test inspections.
- Perform diagnostics and repairs on light and medium vehicles, (gas & diesel) forklifts, trailers, and powered equipment.
- Maintain the appropriate level of technical competence required to diagnose and repair vehicles/equipment.
- Perform hydraulic brake systems and component repairs.
- Assist with hydraulic component repairs.
- Assist with air brake system inspections and repairs.
- Assist higher classification of technicians with diagnostics and repairs on all vehicles/equipment.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair basic electric system components, cranking, lighting, charging and assist with basic A/C systems and component repairs.
- Complete all training requirements for Vehicle Maintenance Technician I in the timeframe established by the Company.
Requirements
- Must have an Associate's degree or certificate in auto, diesel, or heavy equipment mechanics from a vocational school; OR at least one year of related work experience in lieu of a degree.
- Must successfully obtain and maintain a Class A CDL license within 6 months of hire date.
- Must be able to stand and walk on concrete surface for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to work in garage environment with associated noise, fumes and dust and tolerate heights in aerial devices.
- Must be able to lift and/or push at least 100 lbs. several times per shift.
- Must be able to carry at least 50 lbs. a distance of at least 25 feet.
- Repeated bending and twisting are required.
