About the role

This role will support the Cyber Operations Branch within the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). The position focuses on cybersecurity operations, incident response, and threat detection to protect federal networks and critical infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate incident response activities across federal civilian departments and agencies.
  • Analyze network traffic, logs, and threat intelligence to identify sophisticated cyber threats.
  • Develop and implement detection rules, playbooks, and operational procedures for cyber defense.
  • Collaborate with partner agencies and private sector stakeholders to share threat intelligence and best practices.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and recommend mitigation strategies for critical systems.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior cyber operations staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in cybersecurity operations, incident response, or threat hunting.
  • Experience with SIEM platforms, endpoint detection tools, and network analysis technologies.
  • Strong understanding of adversarial tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) and the MITRE ATT&CK framework.
  • Active Top Secret security clearance or eligibility to obtain one.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in a relevant field.
  • Professional certifications such as CISSP, GIAC, or Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH).
  • Experience with cloud security (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and hybrid environments.
  • Familiarity with federal cybersecurity policies and standards (NIST, FISMA, OMB directives).
  • Scripting or programming skills (Python, PowerShell, or Bash).

  • Ability to work under pressure during active security incidents.

Pay

Pay range: $95,000 - $130,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
