VDC Specialist - Mechanical Pipe

About the role

iENG Design is seeking a VDC Specialist to join our VDC department located in Charlotte, NC. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience with Mechanical Pipe design and Fabrication.

Responsibilities

  • Generating deliverables such as spool drawings/maps, installation drawings, and hanger maps.
  • Collaborating with engineers, designers, and other team members to ensure accurate and efficient integration of piping systems within the overall building model.
  • Designing and modeling piping systems based off P&IDs and existing models.
  • Providing technical support to project teams by troubleshooting VDC-related issues and assisting with model revisions as needed.
  • Developing hanger and supplemental steel layout and fabrication plans.
  • Supporting the field and shop through the project lifecycle.
  • Reviewing and ensuring the accuracy of modeling and design work, adhering to project specifications and standards.

Requirements

  • An associate’s degree in applied science and/or equivalent relevant experience in CAD Drafting, engineering, construction management, or a similar field is preferred.
  • Proficient with REVIT, AutoCAD, BIM360, Microsoft Teams, and Planner.
  • Overall strong computer skills are expected.
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical piping design, VDC, or a related field.
  • Willing to travel on an as needed basis.
  • Able to work within an environment with deadlines, and when tasked with multiple duties your attention to detail stays consistent.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work well with both a team and independently with minimal supervision.
  • Able to interpret and identify potential problems or risks and come up with creative solutions.
