VDC Specialist - Mechanical Plumbing

About the role

iENG Design is seeking a VDC Specialist to join our VDC team located in Charlotte, NC. The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of experience with plumbing design, VDC, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Generating detailed deliverables such as spool drawings/maps, installation drawings, and hanger maps.
  • Collaborating with engineers, designers, and other team members to ensure accurate and efficient integration of plumbing systems within the overall building model.
  • Designing and modeling plumbing systems based off P&IDs, Design drawings or Engineering markups.
  • Providing technical support to project teams by troubleshooting VDC-related issues and assisting with model revisions as needed.
  • Developing hanger and supplemental steel layout and fabrication plans.
  • Supporting the field and shop operations through the project lifecycle.
  • Reviewing and ensuring the accuracy of modeling and design work, adhering to project codes, specifications and standards.

Requirements

  • An associate’s degree in applied science and/or equivalent relevant experience in CAD Drafting, engineering, construction management, or a similar field is preferred.
  • Knowledge of IPC, UPC or other plumbing codes.
  • Familiarity with REVIT, AutoCAD, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Planner.

Qualifications

  • Strong computer skills are expected.
  • Willing to travel on an as needed basis for project needs and team collaboration.
  • The ability to work within an environment with deadlines, and when tasked with multiple duties your attention to detail stays consistent.
  • A strong work ethic with the capability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in identifying potential problems or risks and developing creative solutions.

Skills

  • Proficiency in REVIT, AutoCAD, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Planner.
