VDC Scanning Technician

About the role
We are seeking a dedicated VDC Scanning Technician to join our team based out of any of our US office locations (MA, NJ, PA, MD, NC, KS, CA). This position requires travel between two active project sites located in Michigan and Indiana, with travel frequency and duration varying based on project needs.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive laser scanning operations at various construction and project sites, ensuring data is collected according to high standards and project specifications.
- Develop expertise in cutting-edge scanning technologies and software, with a commitment to continuous learning and proficiency in the latest advancements in the field.
- Uphold quality control protocols for scanning activities, ensuring the collected data is accurate, reliable, and meets all required quality standards.
- Assist in the writing and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for laser scanning operations, contributing to the documentation of best practices and operational guidelines.
- Operate scanning hardware such as Leica’s RTC360, BLK2GO, Top Con’s Total Station, NavVis VLX, and other equipment.
- Learn and provide support to Data Processing Technicians as needed, facilitating a collaborative workflow between field data collection and data processing to manage workloads effectively.
Requirements
- Bachelor's, Associate's, or Technical degree in Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- 5-7 years of experience in computer-assisted drafting, design, scanning, construction, surveying, civil, and VDC/BIM.
- Demonstrated leadership in laser scanning, with extensive experience managing complex scanning projects and navigating challenging project environments.
- Expertise in troubleshooting sophisticated data quality and equipment issues, with a proven track record of maintaining high standards of data integrity.
- Commitment to professional development, with mastery of current scanning technologies and awareness of emerging trends and tools.
- Exceptional organizational and project management skills, capable of steering multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Advanced communication and mentorship abilities, with a focus on building a cohesive, skilled, and motivated field technician team.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to stand, sit, and walk for prolonged periods.
- Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl as required.
- Must be able to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to climb ladders as necessary.
Work Environment
- Must be able to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, which may include exposure to varying working conditions.
- Must be able to adhere to strict cleanroom gowning protocol.
- This position is safety-sensitive and involves field work at client sites, including construction, process, packaging, manufacturing, research, or other "non-administrative" areas.
Travel
- 75-100% travel, or as required by the assigned project.
- May be assigned to the client site for an extended period, with overnight travel or staying in the city of the client’s location possible.
- Must have access to reliable transportation and the ability to travel and commute on a daily or routine basis.
- Work schedule may require flexibility, including availability to work 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shifts, as well as weekends.
- Must complete site safety training and adhere to site safety rules when visiting construction sites.
Pay
The salary for this role ranges from $67,000 to $118,000, dependent on experience, skill set, and education.
