VDC Manager
About the role
VDC Managers support project teams and corporate departments in the implementation and use of Virtual Design and Construction tools and processes.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement VDC strategy throughout the project life cycle from design and construction to facilities management
- Provide leadership and guidance for BIM implementation
- Manage and implement VDC project setup process
- Lead VDC implementation opportunities in the Marketing, Pursuit, Pre-construction, and Construction phases of a Project
- Lead BIM meetings and design or MEP coordination sessions
- Interact regularly with jobsites and maintain an understanding of project VDC implementations
- Establish, document, and maintain 3D model coordinates
- Create 2D and 3D site logistics phasing plans
- Federate 3D content modeled by others, and model any content not provided
- Integrate laser scan point clouds with Building Information Models
- Create, or assist project staff, in creating and maintaining 4D schedules and simulations
- Learn VDC processes and standards; apply them to assigned projects
- Read and comprehend construction documents and apply them to VDC processes
- Provide models and documents necessary to complete scope determined by VDC leadership and project teams
- Incorporate design updates into project models
- Analyze models, look for errors and omissions, and make corrections as necessary
- Assist project personnel in the implementation of the VDC goals on their projects through training and support
- Track and report on VDC metrics for each project
- Facilitate ongoing collaboration among VDC personnel including the sharing of best practices and lessons learned
- Actively participate in and lead ongoing strategic initiatives related to VDC and innovation
- Participate in speaking opportunities within the industry and focus groups

Safety Responsibilities and Expectations
- Responsible for refusing unsafe work and for carrying out all work in accordance with the established Yates Safety Procedures and Work Practices

- Advise fellow employees of hazardous situations
- Participate in workplace inspections
- Comply with statutory requirements, including duty of care
- Participate in required and/or assigned training

- Attend prestart and Safety meetings and contribute
- Assist with administering the site safety program as required and ensure Trade Partner compliance with OSHA standards and Yates Site Specific Requirements and all applicable safety codes and regulations
Requirements
- Associate degree in construction management, architecture, engineering, or a related field (equivalent experience in the building industry acceptable)
- An undergraduate University degree or higher (preferably in Construction Management, Engineering, or a closely related field) is preferred
- Ten (10) + years’ experience working in a BIM or VDC-related role, preferably in the construction industry
Skills
- Expert level software knowledge in one or more of the following: Autodesk Revit, Navisworks Manage, AutoCAD, Solibri
- Experience with Trimble Project Sight and/or Autodesk Construction Cloud
- Familiarity with other BIM tools preferred: Trimble Sketchup, Civil 3D, 3D Max, Recap Pro, Tekla Structures, Autodesk Point Layout
- Strong Microsoft Office skills (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel specifically)
- Experience in BIM process and software training preferred
- Experience in MEP Coordination strongly preferred
- Willingness to work on active construction project sites
- Ability to travel

Physical Demands
- Physical requirements may include walking, standing, operating tools/equipment, and lifting items (up to 25 lbs)
- Tasks may be carried out in varying weather conditions and environments
