Vascular Sonographer - Days - PRN

About the Role

The Vascular Sonographer performs a variety of high-quality diagnostic imaging using ultrasound equipment to assess blood vessels and related conditions. This role requires technical expertise in operating ultrasound equipment, patient care skills, and the ability to provide accurate and high-quality diagnostic images. Responsibilities include a strong commitment to patient care and collaborative communication with patients and healthcare professionals to provide optimal care.

Position is PRN, Monday - Friday during the day, located at Mercy Hospital Springfield - Heart Hospital.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality diagnostic vascular ultrasound imaging.
• Operate ultrasound equipment safely and effectively.
• Recognize technical abnormalities and adjust protocols as needed.
• Provide excellent patient care and communicate collaboratively with healthcare professionals.
• Follow complex instructions and maintain strong attention to detail.

Requirements

• Graduate of a school of Sonography and completed required clinical hours OR received on-the-job training by a Preceptor who is registered in Cardiac ultrasound.
• No prior experience required.
• State licensure may be required depending on the specific state of practice.
• Certification/Registration: ARDMS (RVT) or CCI (RVS) or ARRT (RVS) or registry eligible (must obtain registry within 6 months of eligibility).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Skills & Abilities

• Proficient knowledge in producing diagnostic images and recognizing technical abnormalities.
• Knowledge of safe and proper machine operation, emergency procedures, and radiation safety.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow complex instructions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
• Prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
• Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
