About the Role
The Unlicensed Vascular Access Technician provides direct and indirect patient care under the direction of an RN or LPN, consistent with established standards of practice, Mercy Hospital Springfield’s goals, the Sisters of Mercy philosophy, and the Mercy Code of Conduct. This role involves inserting peripheral IVs using direct visualization, assessment techniques, and ultrasound technology.
Responsibilities
- Perform duties in alignment with Mercy’s mission, values, and service standards.
- Navigate ultrasound systems and associated equipment.
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Recognize and respond to emergency situations.
- Adapt to stressful situations and communicate effectively.
- Use computers and ultrasound devices proficiently.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current BLS certification or completion within 30 days of hire.
