About the role

The ED Vascular Access Technician is a vital member of the Emergency Department team, specializing in advanced vascular access and phlebotomy skills.

Responsibilities

  • Performing peripheral and ultrasound-guided IV placements, including challenging cases
  • Supporting ultrasound workflows
  • Placing External Jugular (EJ) lines
  • Troubleshooting laboratory and specimen issues
  • Coordinating complex orders with clinical staff
  • Ensuring regulatory compliance in specimen collection
  • Managing high-risk specimen setups
  • Conducting Point-of-Care testing with quality control and troubleshooting

Qualifications

Require a high school diploma or GED, BLS certification, phlebotomy certification or experience, and the ability to work independently and under pressure.

Skills

Essential skills encompass computer literacy, communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and clinical staffing. Preferred qualifications include ultrasound IV training and experience in acute care. This role demands a self-motivated professional capable of providing expert clinical support, ensuring patient safety, and maintaining high standards of laboratory and specimen handling in a fast-paced environment.
