About the role
Provide safe transportation services to residents of the community. Drive the community van on scheduled routes and for special trips sponsored by the activity department.
Responsibilities
- Assist in developing routes and schedules based on resident needs and requests
- Maintain mileage log, repair log, trip records, and expense records as required
- Keep receipts for expenses and submit them to the Life Enrichment Director
- Keep the van clean inside and out; ensure routine maintenance and needed repairs are performed in a timely manner
- Report any accidents or incidents to the supervisor and Harmony Senior Services immediately
- Assist the Activities/Programming Department with activities as assigned
- Maintain a working knowledge of all policies and procedures pertaining to the department
- Attend all required in-services and staff meetings
- Complete all other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Safe driving record; must provide a copy of DMV record to the Executive Director
- Current driver’s license designated to permit operating the type of vehicle used by the community
- Polite and considerate of residents, visitors, co-workers, and supervisor
- Organized and willing to work as part of a team
- Physically and mentally capable of performing job duties
- Able to ascend and descend stairs frequently, operate a wheelchair lift, and push a resident in a wheelchair
- Professional appearance and courteous manner; may be required to wear a designated uniform
- Able to work a flexible schedule including some weekend and evening hours
- Able to lift 50 lbs
