Van Driver

About the role

JYL Transportation, Inc. is seeking Full-Time Special Needs Van Drivers to join their team. The role involves transporting special needs children and adults to and from day programs, medical appointments, and around their communities. Drivers are vital members of the JYL team and are offered a flexible schedule, training rate of $20/hr, and a driver rate of $23.70/hr with an additional $1/hr for wheelchair routes.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a motor vehicle, in accordance with all State and Federal traffic laws.
• Safely operate a variety of vehicles, including sedans, mini-vans, full size passenger vans, and wheelchair vans.
• Safely assist passengers as needed, including helping them enter and exit the vehicle, using the vehicle’s lap and shoulder belts, and safely securing them in car seats and booster seats.
• Communicate effectively and clearly with special needs children/adults, parents, program staff, and the elderly.

Requirements

• Must be 19 years of age or older.
• Have 3 or more years of consecutive driving experience.
• Possess an active Driver’s License with a safe driving record.
• Enjoy working with children and elderly, and always possess the ability to show patience and empathy.

JYL Transportation operates in Central and Western Massachusetts and includes a diverse fleet, many of which have wheelchair accessibility.
