Van Driver

About the Role

Oakwood Specialty Care, a 54-bed long-term care skilled nursing community located in Albia, IA, is seeking a compassionate Van Driver to provide safe and reliable transportation for residents. This is a part-time position with flexible hours, including weekends.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport residents to medical appointments, outings, and special events
• Assist residents with boarding and exiting the van, including wheelchair securement
• Follow schedules and coordinate timely pick-ups and drop-offs
• Observe residents during transport and report concerns to nursing staff
• Complete incident reports and communicate with supervisors as needed
• Maintain a clean, safe, and well-functioning vehicle (fuel, fluids, basic supplies)
• Coordinate vehicle maintenance and service needs
• Communicate daily with nursing and facility teams
• Build positive relationships with residents, families, and staff
• Maintain reliable attendance and work flexible hours, including weekends

Requirements

• Minimum 21 years of age
• Valid Driver’s License with Class D – Chauffeur Endorsement
• Not more than 2 traffic violations within the last 3 years
• No previous driving while under the influence convictions
• CPR and first aid certification or willingness to obtain
