Value Engineering Manager, Value Engineering

About the role

We're looking for a Cost & Value Engineering Manager to partner with Amazon's North America Design & Construction stakeholders, delivering construction cost engineering and value engineering services that optimize design, validate costs, and inform capital investment decisions across Amazon's infrastructure network.

Responsibilities

• Deliver independent, bottom-up cost estimates for construction, equipment, and capital investment projects across Amazon's global portfolio, spanning retrofit, expansion, new-build, automation, and equipment deployment initiatives.
• Develop cost estimates from early-stage concepts through supplier selection and implementation, adapting methodologies and analytical depth to available project information and design maturity.
• Build and maintain scalable estimating models and templates while developing detailed bottom-up cost models for complex, site-specific initiatives requiring advanced analytical judgment.
• Perform should-cost modeling, benchmarking, and Value Engineering analyses to evaluate design alternatives, optimize specifications, identify cost drivers, and ensure Amazon is buying the right solution at the right price.
• Leverage AI-powered tools to automate data gathering, cost modeling, benchmarking, and pattern recognition while applying engineering judgment to validate outputs and resolve complex or ambiguous scopes.
• Drive the development of scalable AI-enabled cost intelligence solutions by curating project and market data, validating model performance, and identifying opportunities to automate routine analytical activities.
• Partner with Engineering, Design, Construction, Procurement, Category Management, and business stakeholders to validate assumptions, communicate cost risks, evaluate alternatives, and influence sourcing and investment decisions.
• Peer review cost models, estimates, and Value Engineering recommendations to ensure technical rigor, consistency, and alignment with current market conditions and best practices.

Requirements

• 3+ years of program or project management experience
• 3+ years of working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams experience
• 3+ years of defining and implementing process improvement initiatives using data and metrics experience
• Knowledge of Excel (Pivot Tables, VLookUps) at an advanced level and SQL
• Experience in cost engineering, value engineering, commercial development, construction, capital projects, equipment, automation, or related technical disciplines, including roles such as Cost Engineer, Value Engineer, Engineer, Architect, Construction Manager, Development Manager, Equipment Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, Owner’s Project Management Representative, Cost Consultant, or other related technical cost and value management roles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management or an equivalent engineering science
• 3+ years of driving end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership experience
• 3+ years of driving process improvements experience
• Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization
• Experience building processes, project management, and schedules
