What is a Fellowship?
A fellowship is a hands-on professional learning experience. Fellows receive education, mentorship, and training while obtaining a teaching licensure. The Valley Futures Fellowship helps emerging professionals gain experience, earn credentials, and make a meaningful impact in the community.
Summary of Position
The Fellow plays a key role in supporting the academic, social, and emotional growth of students through engaging, hands-on learning experiences. Fellows bring a specific area of focus such as STEM, life skills, arts, or prevention into the school environment, expanding opportunities for students during and after the school day and within summer programs.
Specific Responsibilities
- Design and implement enrichment activities, interventions, and student engagement strategies aligned with their focus area
- Develop lesson plans, curriculum support, and project-based learning experiences that complement classroom instruction
- Build meaningful, consistent mentorship relationships with students to support academic, social, and emotional growth
- Collaborate with teachers, school staff, and Youth Power teams to align support across settings
- Contribute to a cohesive “village” of support that surrounds each student and family
- Actively participate in alternative teaching licensure program
A Successful Candidate Should Possess
- Demonstrated experience with youth, education, or community-based programs

- Genuine interest in pursuing an education pathway

- Self-Initiative and “can do” attitude
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Applicants must be 21 years or older
- Must pass a comprehensive background check before starting Fellowship
- Must complete all requirements and trainings for working with children
- Commitment to enroll / complete a licensure or credentialing program

Pay and Schedule
This is not a traditional job. It is a full-time professional fellowship with a living allowance of $18,000
