About the Role

The Site Administrator Technician is a dual role requiring both administrative and technical expertise to support day-to-day operations in a correctional facility. This position serves as the first point of contact for facility personnel regarding administrative and technical tasks related to inmate call control systems. The incumbent must possess strong customer service skills to handle phone calls and email correspondence from internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, correct, and service issues with inmate technology systems, including basic telephone repair and maintenance.
  • Perform hardware troubleshooting, define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with telephony and networking, including copper, CAT 5/6, and fiber optic wiring, as well as knowledge of wiring color codes and data cabling fabrication.
  • Conduct wiring troubleshooting, trace and repair or replace damaged wiring, and effect repairs on 66-Blocks or Cutoff Switches.
  • Maintain, repair, and operate onsite telecommunications hardware, networking hardware/software, access points, and various electronic equipment and wiring at assigned correctional facilities.
  • Meet all service requirements as outlined in the customer contract.
  • Build and maintain working relationships with facility personnel and customer contacts.
  • Interface with correctional personnel, vendors, and contractors to resolve onsite technical problems.
  • Manage time effectively and control service-related expenses.
  • Deliver timely and effective service resolution to ensure optimal system performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Provide onsite instruction and training for site personnel as necessary.
  • Adhere to stringent security guidelines relevant to jail and prison environments.
  • Return damaged or inoperable equipment in accordance with the Return Merchandise Authorization process.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of tablet functionality, applications, and Wi-Fi connectivity issues where applicable.
  • Safely drive a company or personal vehicle to various facilities throughout the assigned state.
  • Travel to various customer sites daily, with potential for overnight trips.
  • Work scheduled or unscheduled overtime, including after-hours callouts.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in telecommunications, including installation, repair, and troubleshooting of telephones, video visitation systems, TTY or VRS Units, and Wi-Fi/Access Points.
  • 2+ years of experience with computer/network installation and repair.
  • Knowledge of VLAN, advanced network configurations, telecom, and VOIP (a plus).
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills.
  • High School Diploma or GED; some college courses preferred.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Proficient in Windows OS, MS Office, and other required software programs.
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Daily travel throughout the assigned geographical area; overnight travel possible.
  • Ability to consistently pass criminal background screens.
