Duties And Responsibilities
- Proactively solicits new residential mortgage business and identifies, develops and maintains a quality network of business relationships.
- Maintains thorough knowledge of lending programs, policies, procedures and regulatory requirements, complying with all federal and state compliance policies and adhering to HMDA requirements.
- Assists clients in determining the proper loan program with a focus on VA Lending.
- Completes mortgage applications for submission to loan processing and underwriting.
- Establishes a detailed marketing/business plan which includes names of potential and existing loan customers, realtors, builders and developers; includes frequency of contact in the plan.
- Promotes and cross-sells other products and services as appropriate to client requirements.
- Conducts networking activities such as community events, attends local Chambers of Commerce meetings, develops relationships with centers of influence, and entertains clients/prospects to enhance relationships and create new sales.
- Evaluates loan requests, analyzes financial data and determines qualification of collateral and client credit history.
- Structures loans to comply with acceptable lending practices and federal and state regulations.
- Maintains contact with client throughout the loan process.
- Ensures compliance with all compliance regulations and policies that are applicable to this position.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Two (2) years of mortgage lending experience with proven mortgage production.
- Previous experience using automated underwriting technology preferred.
- Basic knowledge of bank operations and products.
- VA / FHA experience required.
- Knowledge of federal and state regulations regarding lending and related consumer disclosure requirements.
- Excellent knowledge of agency guidelines.
- Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to carry out instructions, understand procedures and write correspondence.
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Excellent customer service and time management skills.
- Ability to multitask, as shown in previous experience as a processor completing tasks under time constraints.
- Good organizational skills and ability to develop basic understanding of underwriting guidelines.
- Good data entry/keyboarding and math skills.
