UU Student - Pathway Mentor (Work-Study)

Job Summary

The University of Utah Department of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training is seeking seven Doctoral of Physical Therapy (DPT) students to assist with Catherine Ortega, Eric Belair, and admissions of potential DPT students. Students will meet with their matched protégé/mentee for a minimum of 4 contact hours per month, with one hour being a video call or in-person meeting.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to University of Utah policies.
• Complete mentor training session and monthly documentation of protégé communication.
• Punctually attend meetings with the protégé and communicate cancellations promptly.
• Communicate with the Student Graduate Advisor for status changes.
• Attend activities arranged by the pathway mentoring program, once per semester.
• Evaluate the mentoring program at the end of each semester.
• Be an active participant and communicate regularly with the Pathway Director.
• Talk early and often with the mentee.
• Contribute student perspective on academic progress and experiences within the DPT program.

Qualifications

• This job is available to University of Utah students with a Federal Work-Study Award for the current year.
• Must be accepted to or enrolled in the Doctoral of Physical Therapy program – St George Pathway.
• Must have good spoken and written communication skills.
• Must be able to work in a team.
• Must be eligible for and have accepted federal Work-Study funds.

Additional Information: The University is a participating employer with Utah Retirement Systems (“URS”). Eligible new hires with prior URS service may elect to enroll in URS if they make the election before becoming eligible for retirement (usually the first day of work).
