Job Summary
The Distribution Utility Worker III is responsible for various tasks related to water and sewage maintenance, including:
- Installing and repairing water service connections and sewer collection systems
- Uncovering and backfilling marked or suspected utilities
- Repairing water leaks and damaged meter pits
- Responding to freeze-ups and performing necessary repairs
- Assisting with water main flushing operations
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you should:
- Work well with others and follow directions without direct supervision
- Be able to learn how to operate equipment like backhoes, trenchers, tampers, and sewer snakes
- Have basic computer skills to complete timesheets and work orders
- Show average overall mechanical skills
- Interact professionally with customers and maintain a positive company image
- Hold a valid driver’s license and be able to obtain a Class “A” CDL license within one year of hire
Physical Demands
Frequent standing, sitting, walking, and driving. Routinely using shovels and hand tools. Regularly climbing in and out of trenches with and without ladders. Bending, crouching, kneeling, working in confined spaces, and working overhead. Occasionally lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds unassisted and more with assistance. Walking on uneven ground and slopes. Routinely exposed to continuous background noise and water treatment chemicals. Rarely exposed to raw sewage. Occasionally exposed to loud noises and fumes.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $36,592 - $54,888 annually, based on experience and qualifications. Total Rewards Package includes:
