Utility Welder I - 2nd Shift

Position Summary

The Utility Welder is responsible for MIG/TIG welding special brackets, fixtures, and fabricated components used to support production operations at Coastline Power Solutions. This position requires strong welding ability, fabrication knowledge, accurate measuring skills, and the ability to work with hand tools and shop equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welding and Fabrication

    • Perform MIG/TIG welding on special brackets, fixtures, supports, and other production-related components.
    • Fabricate parts and assemblies based on work instructions, drawings, samples, verbal direction, or production needs.
    • Weld carbon steel, Stainless, Aluminum and other materials as required by the job.
    • Inspect own work for weld quality, fit-up, alignment, and overall workmanship.
    • Repair, modify, or improve brackets, fixtures, and fabricated components as needed.
  • Tool and Equipment Use

    • Safely use MIG/TIG welders, grinders, drills, clamps, cutting tools, fixtures, and other hand and power tools.
    • Keep tools, fixtures, and work areas organized and in good working condition.
  • Safety

    • Follow all company safety policies and shop procedures.
    • Wear required PPE, including welding hood, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, protective clothing, and safety footwear.
    • Maintain safe welding practices, including proper shielding, ventilation, fire prevention, and housekeeping.

Required Qualifications

  • Previous MIG/TIG welding experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, or industrial environment.

  • Strong ability to fabricate, fit, and weld parts accurately.

  • Ability to read a tape measure accurately.

  • Ability to use common hand tools and power tools.

  • Strong understanding of fit-up, layout, alignment, and weld quality.

  • Ability to follow work instructions, drawings, samples, or verbal direction.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

  • Dependable attendance and ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience welding steel and aluminum brackets, supports, fixtures, or production components.

  • Ability to read fabrication drawings or blueprints.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, lift, push, and pull throughout the shift.

  • Ability to work around welding fumes, sparks, grinding dust, noise, heat, and moving equipment.

  • Ability to work in various positions while welding, fitting, or fabricating.
