Welder I - 2nd Shift

Job Summary

This position is expected to perform all activities required within the Welding department to produce components for customer orders. Tasks include, but are not limited to, TIG welding of sheet metal, aluminum, and stainless steel, as well as cutting, punching, and rolling of extruded aluminum bar. Welders are also responsible for all touch‑up paint work. The role may be reassigned to other departments frequently as business needs dictate.

Duties and Responsibilities

• TIG weld formed aluminum and stainless‑steel sheet metal components to production specifications and quality requirements.
• Prep, prime, and paint welded parts.
• Operate semi‑automated extrusion saw.
• Punch extruded bar.
• Slit and roll radius extruded bar.
• Material handling, including forklift movement and unloading trucks.
• Accurately manage productivity through the production control system (ERP) as orders are completed.
• Observe plant safety requirements and advise management on safety concerns through near‑miss and incident reporting.
• Maintain work area to established 6S standard.
• Serve as a helper or machine operator on shears, presses, packaging/shipping, or any other additional duties as required by management.
• Attend and participate in department and shift meetings, including safety and other workplace trainings.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Read and understand production orders and blueprint drawings.
• Welding experience and certification preferred but not required.
• Strong mathematical and measurement skills, especially with a ruler (to 1/64”) and protractor.
• Flexible team player with a solid work ethic and reliability.
• Well‑developed interpersonal skills for effective communication with team members and leadership.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Resourceful problem‑solver who works well independently.
• Forklift experience preferred but not required.

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Welding Certification (preferred).
• 1 year of experience in a manufacturing setting, preferably in a welding work‑cell.

Working Conditions

• Fast‑paced manufacturing environment with exposure to ambient/outdoor temperatures, dust, mechanical parts, pinch points, and increased noise levels.
• Hours: Monday – Friday, 2 PM – 10 PM.
• Flexibility to work overtime when required.
