Responsibilities
- Operates the Vactor and Jet trucks and equipment during sewer line cleaning, sewer stoppages, and sewer backups.
- Maintains documentation records for line cleaning and sewer stoppages using the City GIS.
- Performs routine maintenance work on the Vactor and Jet trucks as well as assists with pump station maintenance when needed.
- Performs smoke and dye testing of sewer lines.
- Assists the Utility Inspector with CCTV work using the crawler camera or the push camera.
Requirements
- Minimum Education and Experience: Ability to read, write, and understand oral/written instructions in English. At least 6 months experience in sewer-related positions. High school diploma preferred. Maintenance skills on pumps a plus.
- Licenses and/or Certifications: Commercial Driver’s License B with Tank endorsement. VA DOT work zone traffic control certification within six months of hire.
- Knowledge: Knowledge of equipment used in assigned unit. Knowledge of work methods and techniques. Must have knowledge of traffic safety.
- Skills: Skill in driving vehicles and operating equipment. Basic computer skills.
- Abilities: Requires the ability to lift and move heavy objects, stoop, crouch, walk, pull, lift, grasp, hear, see up close, see far away, kneel, reach, push, talk, stand, finger movement, repetitive motions, depth perception. Must be able to communicate problems as maintenance is performed.
Qualifications
