About the role

The primary function of this position is to provide law enforcement services within the County Jail, including overseeing inmate roll calls, meal distribution, escorting inmates, conducting security rounds, and testifying in court. Additional responsibilities include transporting inmates, processing new bookings, and serving warrants.

Responsibilities

• Conducts inmate roll calls and verifies facility IDs.
• Distributes meals and escorts inmates to various locations.
• Ensures inmates are properly dressed and have necessary items for their destinations.
• Provides personal hygiene, medical, recreational, and religious commodities and services.
• Performs security rounds and conducts cell searches.
• Books new inmates, verifies warrants, and arranges medical examinations.
• Collects and accounts for bond payments and manages inmate releases.
• Operates and maintains transport vehicles, performs strip searches, and coordinates transportation activities.
• Trains new deputies in jail responsibilities and conducts various training programs.
• Provides security at county facilities, operates electronic detection equipment, and patrols designated areas.
• Conducts investigations, serves warrants, and handles criminal and civil matters.
• Oversees inspections, maintains records, and processes evidence.
• Assists with booking and bonding services for sick and injured inmates.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent is required. Prior law enforcement experience is preferred. Must be 21 years old, a U.S. citizen, and pass a thorough background check, polygraph, physical examination, psychological evaluation, and oral interview. Successful completion of an 18-month on-the-job test period is required.

Qualifications

Must possess a valid Georgia driver's license. Successful completion of a physical agility test and oral interviews is mandatory. Completion of a written exam consisting of multiple-choice questions and rating scales is required.

Skills

Effective communication, decision-making, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills are essential. Proficiency in law enforcement protocols, computer systems, and emergency response procedures is required.
