Utility Person - Paint Line
About the role
The Utility person operates powered industrial trucks (P.I.T.) equipped with lifting attachments such as booms and drum grabbers to safely and efficiently move materials throughout a manufacturing facility. This role also requires basic computer skills to support inventory tracking, data entry, and production processes.
Responsibilities
- Assist the rewind operator by making cuts of the strip and visually checking the appearance of the strip at the Rewind.
- Maintain Safety PPE, housekeeping, and lifting up to 50lbs.
- Supports the preparation and mixing of paint drums as well as cleaning pans.
- Remove coated coils from the coil cart for weighing.
- Assist Coater Technicians with paint changes as requested.
- Assist with paint changes, clean up, and strip breaks.
- Enter data into the computer system.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
- Fluency in English, read, write and speak.
- Able to read, write and interpret documents such as training manuals, write routine reports and facilitate training sessions.
- Able to perform mathematics, including dividing units of measure and computing rate, ratio, percentage and interpreting graphs.
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts and moderate noise levels.
- Exposure to fumes or airborne particles.
- Required PPE must be worn at all times.
- Regularly communicate with other employees.
- Regularly lift and move up to 50lbs.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must have fluency in English, read, write and speak. Must be able to read, write and interpret documents such as training manuals, write routine reports and facilitate training sessions. Able to perform mathematics, including dividing units of measure and computing rate, ratio, percentage and interpreting graphs.
