Utility Person
Description
The ideal candidate will be safety conscious, dependable, and motivated. This individual will be responsible for safely and efficiently performing cross-functional duties in plant maintenance, production, and equipment operation. The utility person is responsible for greasing and lubricating plant equipment, maintaining plant housekeeping, operating equipment, and performing routine maintenance on plant and equipment.
Hours
Anderson Creek Quarry, Rockville, Virginia: 6:30AM - 5:30PM, weekends as necessary.
A Typical Day
- Performing preventative and routine maintenance on mobile and plant equipment, including cutting and welding under the guidance of the plant manager or other designated personnel
- Using a hand shovel and operating a skid steer, front end loader, and other tools to clean around plant equipment and to maintain roadways and parking areas
- Operating a water truck to limit airborne dust
- Maintaining good housekeeping in areas of responsibility and safe traffic flow throughout the site
- Operating plant-specific mobile equipment such as excavators and haul trucks in a safe manner as needed
- Administering site specific training to visitors and ensuring site guidelines are followed
- Communicating with other site personnel to ensure proper recording of sales activities and fulfillment of customer needs
- Answering customer calls and communicating pricing, product descriptions, and product availability
- Maintaining professionalism in all situations in the workplace and when working with customers
- Aiding in the training of co-workers as needed
Qualifications
You May Be a Good Fit If You Possess a High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience to perform the responsibilities associated with this position. Have experience in the building materials industry (preferred).
Pay
The offered base hourly compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, business need, market conditions, proficiencies, skills, education, and experience. Skills
We are excited to share the base range for this position is $21.60 - $28.80, exclusive of benefits or bonuses (discretionary and non-discretionary).
