Utility Person

About the Role

This position involves various manual and equipment-based tasks to support plant operations and maintenance, with a strong emphasis on safety, adaptability, and teamwork. The role includes cross-functional duties in plant maintenance and equipment operation.

Responsibilities

• Operates production and plant-specific mobile equipment (e.g., skid steer, water truck, front-end loader) safely and efficiently within company guidelines and safety standards.
• Performs preventative and routine maintenance on mobile equipment, conveyor belts, and unload equipment, including splicing, replacing idlers, pulleys, drive belts, bearings, cleaning, and lubrication.
• Conducts daily pre/post-shift inspections and maintains maintenance logs.
• Uses standard operating procedures to troubleshoot malfunctions or issues.
• Greases and lubricates plant equipment and maintains plant housekeeping.
• Uses hand tools and equipment to clean around plant machinery and maintain roadways and parking areas.
• Participates in plant operations, including production, loading, and shipping.
• Maintains safe traffic flow throughout the site and good housekeeping in areas of responsibility.
• Performs cutting and welding under supervision of the plant manager or designated personnel.
• Maintains strong communication with team members to ensure efficient and safe workflow.
• Aides in the training of co-workers as needed.
• Under direct supervision, adjusts equipment to maximize production.
• Takes on other tasks and assignments as required, including duties outside the typical scope of the role to support overall team operations and organizational needs.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
• 1+ year of related experience.

Skills

Pay

The hiring range for this position is $25–$32 per hour, exclusive of benefits or bonuses. The offered base compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, business need, market conditions, proficiencies, skills, education, and experience.
