Utility Person

About the role

Martin Marietta is seeking a Utility Person to join our team at the Midway Quarry in Mascot, TN. The ideal candidate will be safety-conscious, dependable, and motivated, performing cross-functional duties in plant maintenance, production, and equipment operation.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative and routine maintenance on mobile and plant equipment, including cutting and welding under guidance.
• Conduct daily pre/post-shift inspections on equipment and maintain maintenance logs.
• Use hand tools, skid steers, front-end loaders, and other equipment to clean around plant areas, maintain roadways, and parking areas.
• Operate a water truck to limit airborne dust.
• Participate in plant operations, including production, loading, shipping, and quality control.
• Maintain housekeeping in assigned areas and ensure safe traffic flow throughout the site.
• Operate plant-specific mobile equipment such as excavators and haul trucks safely as needed.
• Operate an automated scale and related computer software to generate customer tickets.
• Administer site-specific training to visitors and ensure adherence to site guidelines.
• Direct customers to appropriate areas of the site.
• Maintain accurate records of aggregate tonnage, sales activities, and prepare basic reports.
• Communicate with site personnel to ensure proper recording of sales and fulfillment of customer needs.
• Answer customer calls, provide pricing, product descriptions, and availability.
• Maintain professionalism in all workplace and customer interactions.
• Aid in the training of co-workers as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
• Experience in the building materials industry (preferred).

Schedule

Hours: 7 AM – 4 PM, with weekends as necessary.
