Utility Locate Technician $24.00-$30.00/hr Abilene, Texas

ELM Utility Services is offering a great opportunity for a Utility Locate Technician in the Abilene, Texas area. ELM Technicians are essential in their communities, ensuring that gas, electric, and communication systems are dependable and well-maintained. They perform high-quality utility marking to avoid damage during excavation of these vital facilities. Our technicians use the advanced LaunchPoint software system, which incorporates the latest technology to create efficiencies.

Responsibilities

• Verifying previous marking for high-profile underground gas utilities
• Completing all necessary paperwork
• Maintaining daily contact with utility managers, crews, homeowners and contractors, discussing locate issues
• Receiving daily jobs via computer/device
• Prioritizing your daily work by going through all locate requests to determine routing
• Reading and understanding utility-provided maps to assist in identification of underground utilities
• Ensuring that clients and contractors suffer no damages or injuries due to mis-located utilities
• Monitoring active excavations near high-profile gas facilities and ensuring safe practices are used
• Inspecting exposed gas facilities for damage

Must be able to work on-call rotation and overtime as needed. This may include working on nights and weekends when necessary.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• At least 90 days of proven, gas locating experience is required
• Valid driver’s license with a good motor vehicle record

Pay

Starting wages for this position will be $24.00-$30.00, depending on experience.
