Title:Utility Lighting InstallerID:1718Location:Hickory, NCDepartment:Utility Position Overview The Utility Lighting Installer is skilled in the construction, maintenance, and repair of overhead and underground lighting distribution systems. Essential Duties & Responsibilities The following duties and responsibilities are not all-inclusive and are subject to change. TWork safely while performing new construction, maintenance or repair of energized and de-energized overhead and underground distribution and lighting systems Conduct pre-job planning based on job prints and work ordersWorking knowledge of overhead and underground line work, construction standards and installationIdentify primary and secondary voltage on a circuit, and underground pulling equipmentUnderstand sloping, shoring, excavation, minimum approach distance and ladder requirementsAbility to maintain, check out, position, and safely operate bucket truckPerforms excavation of dirt, rock, concrete, and other materials using hand tools and power equipmentSupport safety initiatives using personal protective equipment, and line protection devices Qualifications And Requirements To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, work orders, instructions, and proceduresUnderstands equipment and work site set up and groundingWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office, use of the Internet, email, iPad, and industry related programsProficiency in critical thinking, trouble shooting, and problem resolutionMaintain and safely operate company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good working orderAdvanced knowledge of OSHA standards and guidelines for energized and de-energized working conditionsExceptional ability to actively listen and communicate effectively (written, verbal, and nonverbal) Education Requirements High School Diploma or equivalentTechnical degree, 1-3 years’ field experience, extensive mechanical ability, or a combination of education and/or experienceCDL A Physical Requirements Frequently lift and carry up to 60 poundsAble to properly inspect, wear and remove OSHA required personal protective equipmentAccurately perform basic math calculations to include addition, subtraction, fractions, decimals, multiplication, division, and the use of measurementsAscend and descend ladders, scaffolding, and related equipmentCapable of working at heights and/or confined spacesFrequently perform overhead work requiring the full motion use of both hands/arms and securing 30 poundsPossess hand dexterity and strength to operate common hand and power toolsMust be able to stand and walk on pavement/ground for prolonged periods of timeRequires rigorous physical workFrequently required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, bend, push or pull Travel Requirements Must possess a valid driver’s license and be fully insured according to South Carolina lawMaintain a driving record with less than 6 pointsAbility to travel within Gregory Electric’s territory when requiredProven ability to operate a vehicle safely and within legal and regulatory requirements Work Environment Some exposure to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibrationRegular exposure to outdoor weather conditions (heat, humidity, cold, ice, wind)Ability to work outdoors continuously for 8 to 12 hours per dayAble to work overtime when requestedNoise level is moderate to loudOccasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at job sites Why Work at Gregory Electric?
