Utility Inspection Technician

Responsibilities

• Check gas meters for leaks and corrosion via visual inspection.
• Ensure all required paperwork/data are completed for each inspection.
• Report to work area on time at the start of each shift.
• Identify abnormal operating conditions on-site.
• Accurately fill out all forms associated with the inspection visit (electronic or paper).

Requirements

• Able and willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Available to work overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed.
• Able to stand and walk for long periods on varying terrain; bend and stoop; lift heavy items up to 75 lbs.
• Proficiency with technology.
• Able to communicate clearly with colleagues, customers, contractors, and homeowners; customer service experience is a plus.
• Able to pass a drug screen (safety-sensitive position).
• Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record required.
• Ability to use simple hand tools.
• Ability to read a utility map.

Pay

The starting pay is $24–$32/hr., depending on experience. New technicians move to $25/hr. once fully qualified and working independently in the field, and to $26/hr. after reaching their first anniversary.

Schedule

These are daytime, full-time positions and overtime may be required. This position may require working weekends.
