About the role
The Utility Heavy Equipment Excavator is responsible for constructing and repairing underground distribution systems, primarily involving de-energized lines.
Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment such as dump trucks, backhoes, trenchers, and mini-excavators proficiently
- Perform excavations, material identification, and underground utility line pulling
- Follow construction standards, safety protocols, and received instructions
- Assist in setting up equipment, shoring, and working in confined spaces
- Participate in safety testing and maintain equipment in good condition
Qualifications
- High school diploma, technical training, or equivalent experience with mechanical aptitude
- Advanced blueprint reading and troubleshooting skills
- Knowledge of OSHA standards, excavation techniques, and underground infrastructure
- Proficiency with communication tools, industry programs, and safety equipment
- Physical ability to lift up to 60 pounds, perform overhead work, and work outdoors in various conditions
- Valid driver's license with good driving record; CDL A preferred
- Ability to travel within the service territory, operate both automatic and manual vehicles, and work in demanding physical environments
