About the Role
The Utility Driver is responsible for operating a Concrete Mixer Truck, Flatbed, Dump, Tanker, and Quad in compliance with DOT, OSHA, and EPA regulations. This role focuses on safely delivering high-quality concrete and products to customers while performing necessary vehicle maintenance and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Operate equipment safely and in compliance with all regulations, including DOT, OSHA, and EPA.
- Comply with DOT regulations, including Pre-Trip, Post-Trip, and DVIR (Vehicle Inspection Reporting) requirements.
- Maintain safety awareness by wearing all PPE, performing tasks safely, and ensuring others work safely.
- Deliver high-quality materials safely and on time to various job sites.
- Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inspection reports (DVIR).
- Complete documents accurately for internal records, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements.
- Perform maintenance on trucks and report any issues.
- Provide exceptional customer service and maintain a professional image.
- Operate concrete mixer trucks to deliver ready-mix concrete according to customer and job-site specifications.
- Safely load, mix, transport, and discharge concrete.
- Communicate with dispatch, customers, and job-site personnel regarding deliveries and placement.
- Maintain accurate delivery tickets and driving records.
- Clean and wash out mixer equipment after each delivery.
- Operate a truck-mounted Moffett forklift to load, transport, and unload construction materials.
- Deliver and place materials at residential, commercial, and construction job sites.
- Inspect and secure all loads prior to transportation.
- Operate equipment safely on uneven terrain, tight job sites, and in varying weather conditions.
- Perform daily equipment inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns.
- Operate flatbed trucks and tractor-trailers to transport construction materials and other freight.
- Properly load, secure, tarp, and transport cargo in accordance with DOT requirements.
- Use chains, straps, binders, and other approved load-securement equipment.
- Safely maneuver vehicles at construction sites, customer locations, and loading facilities.
- Verify load quantities, weights, dimensions, and delivery documentation.
- Maintain required logs and records, complying with hours-of-service regulations.
- Maintain and clean assigned truck.
- Work closely with dispatch, plant teams, and quality personnel.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of Class A driving experience.
- Valid NC CDL Class A license with no restrictions preferred.
- Knowledge of load securement and willingness to train on all Class A vehicles.
- Clean driving record and strong safety record.
- Ability to pass criminal background and Clearinghouse checks.
- Strong work ethic and hands-on, active role capability.
Physical Requirements
- Lift up to 75 lbs.
- Climb ladders and access truck equipment.
- Sit, stand, and remain active for extended periods.
- Bend, twist, reach, kneel, and crouch as needed.
- Use hands and arms for vehicle operation and equipment handling.
- Maintain awareness of surroundings, including sounds, movement, and visual details.
