About the role

Utility Billing Services Representatives perform specialized and complex customer service work in a centralized utilities customer services office dealing with consolidated billing for water, wastewater, refuse and other fee service billings, many of which are mandatory; processes requests for residential and commercial utility services; maintains and researches fiscal, service, and related records unique to utility services and billing; responds to and reconciles customer service complaints and billing problems; explains utility service, billing and collection policies to customers.

Requirements

  • One year of full-time, paid experience comparable to a Utility Billing Services Representative (Level I) with Sacramento County.
  • One year of experience performing financial recordkeeping and customer relations activities, including giving and receiving information on a daily basis.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications (Level II):

  • One year of full-time, paid experience comparable to a Utility Billing Services Representative (Level I) with Sacramento County.
  • One year of experience performing financial recordkeeping and customer relations activities, including giving and receiving information on a daily basis.

Skills

Knowledge of:

  • Policies and procedures related to utility billing systems, collection, and revenue intake and nuisance abatement calls.
  • Organization and operating details of utility billing.
  • Basic financial record keeping principles and practices.
  • Current office practices, procedures, and basic data processing principles, including the use of word processing, personal computing equipment or intelligent workstations or terminals.
  • Business arithmetic, including percentages and decimals.
  • Correct business English usage.

Level II - $4,555.33 - $5,536.68/month
