The Village of Roselle, Illinois (population 22,897) seeks a full-time Utilities & Streets Operator in the Public Works Department. This position performs technical and physical work on the operation, construction, maintenance, repair, and installation of Village infrastructure, including the water distribution and storage system, water meters, and public right-of-way such as catch basins, storm sewer, sidewalks, roadways, signage, and trees.
Responsibilities
- Water Distribution Operations: Monitor the water distribution process in accordance with all applicable laws and EPA regulations. Maintain, inspect, and repair pumping stations, water storage facilities, watermain distribution systems, and customer water meters.
- Street Operations: Maintain, inspect, and repair roadways, sidewalks, storm sewer systems, signage, and trees using sewer jets, vacuum trucks, closed-circuit televising equipment, heavy and light-duty equipment, and other related tools. Perform snow and ice removal operations.
- Construction & General Public Works Tasks: Perform construction and maintenance tasks such as truck driving, excavating, and working on sanitary sewers, storm sewers, and water mains.
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license with a CDL endorsement, or the ability to obtain a CDL within 6 months (training provided at no cost).
- At least 3 years of experience in public works and/or the construction industry.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain within 12 months, a Class D Water Operator-in-Training License (training provided at no cost).
Pay
Competitive salary range of $62,188 – $83,524.
