Utilities/Refrigeration Technician

About the role

This position ensures the proper operation and maintenance of refrigeration systems, including preventive maintenance, inspections, daily log upkeep, and participation in the PSM program and training. The role requires adherence to all safety protocols and the ability to complete refrigeration training within a designated time period.

Responsibilities

• Daily operations and maintenance of all utility systems, including high-pressure boilers, air compressors, water feed systems, chemical controls, and Ammonia refrigeration systems.
• Perform daily rounds on utility and refrigeration systems and report any deviations.
• Maintain all areas in the department clean and organized.
• Assist higher-level operators in all aspects pertaining to the department.
• Complete preventive maintenance work orders in an effective and efficient manner.
• Comply with PSM program requirements.
• Follow all safety protocols.
• Learn additional skills through on-the-job training.
• Lift up to 70 lbs and work in extremely hot or cold conditions.
• Work under pressure.

Requirements

• Prior industrial experience with Ammonia Refrigeration and Steam Boilers preferred.
• Mechanical background preferred.
• Must be able to work rotating shifts (days/nights), weekends, and holidays.
• Must be able to read and write in English to complete logs on regulatory and operational records.
• Ability to attend training and pass required courses.
• Stable work history required.
