About the role

Energy Services provides chilled water, steam, and potable water from three different industrial plants across campus. Maintenance Mechanics are responsible for preventive, routine, and reactive maintenance of all chilled water, steam, and domestic water production equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine mechanical maintenance on primary and auxiliary production equipment to ensure reliable and continuous plant operations.
  • Install, modify, and upgrade plant production equipment and infrastructure systems.
  • Test and operate equipment to analyze various plant systems and equipment.
  • Perform plant general maintenance duties as scheduled, including the cleaning of plant equipment, machinery, and tools, to maintain integrity of production assets inventory and the general industrial environment.
  • Agility and good eye-hand coordination are required to perform work around industrial machinery and high-voltage electrical equipment.

Requirements

  • High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
  • Two years of demonstrated work experience for Cent Pl Mnt Mech I
  • Three years of industrial mechanic work experience, preferably with utilities production equipment, for Cent Pl Mnt Mech II
  • Six years of industrial mechanic work experience, preferably with utilities production equipment, for Cent Pl Mnt Mech III
  • Ten years of industrial mechanic work experience, preferably with utilities production equipment, for Cent Pl Mnt Mech IV
  • One year or 600 hours of vocational/technical training in a mechanical or electrical field may substitute for one year of required experience.

Qualifications

  • Must have a valid driver’s license, which must be maintained during employment.
  • Must be able to follow directions as presented by the supervisor, be computer literate, be a positive team player, and be capable of working independently as directed in the performance of some routine duties.
  • Must be capable of becoming proficient in the use of “AiM” Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) software and the use of mobile technology.
  • Must be capable of training and supervising other mechanics as needed.

Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge

  • Must be able to follow directions as presented by the supervisor, be computer literate, be a positive team player, and be capable of working independently as directed in the performance of some routine duties.

Pay

Hiring Range: $19.75 - $29.50 /hr (contingent on available funding)

Schedule

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am-5:00 pm or TBD by Supervisor. Appointment Length: Regular Continuous/Until Further Notice
