Utilities Metering Systems Technician

About the role

The Utilities Metering Systems Technician assists in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electric and water metering systems.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the installation of electric metering devices and meters that monitor chilled and heating hot water, domestic water, steam, and irrigation metering.
  • Assist with installation and setup of temperature sensors.
  • This may involve driving a university vehicle to different university locations.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant regulatory issues and technological changes in the metering of utilities.
  • Assist with the documentation of metering locations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • PREFERRED: Experience installing electrical meters and meter-related PLCs.
  • Three years experience in installation, maintenance, or repair of instrument-rated digital electric or water meters, programming of electric or water meters, or other related experience.
  • Valid Texas Class C driver license or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of digital electrical or water metering.
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
  • Preferred qualifications include experience working with 24V, 120/240V wiring, interpretation of electrical and mechanical construction drawings and specifications, and Journeyman Electrician License.
