Utilities Laborer/ Service Technician

About the role

Kinsley Construction is seeking personnel for its growing Utilities water and gas line crews in Lancaster County, PA and surrounding areas. Positions include laborers and service technicians.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with job site pipeline installation operations.
• Using required hand tools.
• Operating non-CDL dump trucks and service trucks.
• Daily clean-up of job sites.
• Completing pipefitting tasks as required using basic hand tools (pipe wrenches, thread steel pipe, flair fittings, and hammer drill).
• Relocating gas meters from inside to outside to ensure the piping is back into existing customer fuel line.
• Installing pressure set point gauges.
• Performing load/lockup tests.
• Pinpointing and managing possible leaks.
• Recognizing hazards that may constitute a warning tag.
• Appropriately tagging customer fuel lines or appliances as needed (red, orange, or yellow tag).
• Completing electronic orders and documenting gas meter information.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience in pipe installation.
• Comfortable working around heavy equipment.
• Able to lift, bend, carry, and perform other physically demanding tasks.
• Must have a basic knowledge of the MSP, GOM, and Fuel Gas Code, etc. for Service Technician position.
• Must have HVAC knowledge to perform meter activation and relight natural gas appliances in accordance with UGI procedures for Service Technician position.
• Experience working with and around heavy equipment.
• Perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms, legs and moving whole body such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling of materials.
• Valid PA driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Must be able to pass a DOT physical and drug screen.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
