About the role
The ‘EDS & SE Field Representative – Utah’ (Part-Time) supports The Salvation Army’s Service Extension presence across Utah and southwestern Wyoming (Lincoln, Uinta, and Sweetwater counties).
Responsibilities
- Manage and support SE units across Utah and Lincoln, Uinta, and Sweetwater counties in Wyoming, serving as the primary relationship contact for unit volunteers and committee members.
- Support the SE Center in Provo, Utah, as assigned.
- Visit assigned SE units regularly; provide guidance, programmatic support, and encouragement to unit leadership.
- Identify and work to develop new SE units in communities where there is a need or desire for a TSA presence.
- Analyze communities, volunteers, and programs; recommend changes and develop strategies.
- Advise SE Unit Committees on official Salvation Army policy and ensure their compliance.
- Aid SE units in completing required statistical and financial reports.
- Aid SE unit leadership with volunteer recruitment, retention, and recognition efforts.
- Help SE units recruit campers for Service Extension Camp and assist with transportation arrangements.
- Assist communities in times of disaster by assessing needs, liaising with local media and agencies, and providing on-scene support and guidance.
- Coordinate the Christmas Red Kettle Campaign within assigned SE unit areas.
- Work with the Divisional Grant Writer to ensure SE units in the territory maintain grant compliance.
- Conduct an annual inventory of SE equipment and report to the EDS & SE Administrative Coordinator.
- Support EDS preparedness and training activities in Utah under the direction of the EDS & SE Assistant Director (Utah EDS lead).
- Participate in EDS training exercises and help build field-level EDS awareness and capacity among SE units and local partners.
- Support EDS response and recovery efforts in Utah and the assigned Wyoming territory as called upon.
Qualifications
- A High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Emergency Management, Nonprofit Management, Social Services, or a related field.
- Experience in community services, volunteer management, or a nonprofit setting preferred.
- General knowledge of The Salvation Army preferred.
Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience working with volunteers and in community relationship-building.
- Working knowledge of database applications; ability to learn new software with basic training.
Requirements
- The employee must be 21 years old at a minimum (for insurance provision) and possess a valid in-state driver’s license.
- An MVR will be processed every year in accordance with The Salvation Army’s policies.
- Continued employment will be contingent upon a biennial (every two years) background check that is processed in accordance with The Salvation Army’s policies.
- Able to maneuver, to remain in a stationary position, to grasp, push, pull, and reach overhead, to lift 25 pounds, to access and produce information from the computer, to operate a telephone, to understand written information.
