About the role
The Agricultural Field Representative is responsible for conducting on-site inspections and preparing written analysis of machinery, equipment, and livestock held as collateral for agricultural credits. He or she gathers and analyzes necessary data to determine a fair appraisal value for loan purposes and helps develop appraisal policies and procedures that are legally compliant and support the objectives of the Bank.
Responsibilities
- Reviews files for assigned agricultural inspection requests, ensuring that necessary documentation is enclosed including valuations, equipment lists, etc.
- Organizes inspection assignments in order to minimize driving time
- Conducts on-site inspections of designated credits and gathers all relevant facts; examines livestock, machinery, equipment, property, and buildings; determines the present condition of such and makes accurate valuation assessments; and consults a specialist as necessary
- Captures, inspects, verifies, analyzes, and reconciles comparable data available to indicate the market value of the agricultural collateral
- Prepares and submits periodic reports to branch management during the quarterly meetings regarding agricultural trends, economic conditions, and future potential regarding agricultural loans
- Photographs items to assist in estimating value, substantiating findings, and completing appraisal report
- Prepares written inspection reports
- Captures, verifies, and analyzes comparable cost and valuation data for the maintenance of data that is reflective of the relevant market prices
- Conducts surveys regarding current market conditions for department files
- Uses all relevant market analyses to assist in the development of appropriate agricultural inspection policies and procedures
- Ensures that requests, questions, and problems are courteously and professionally resolved
- Ensures that communications are efficient and effective
- Delivers inspection service in a prompt, accurate, and legal manner
- Affords assistance to other employees and officers as necessary
- Maintains and develops good relations with agricultural and commercial loan officers in the Bank and offers information and assistance when necessary
- Refers qualified prospective clients to appropriate relationship officers for their review and solicitation
- Completes required reports and records accurately and promptly
- Maintains current knowledge of crop, cattle, and dairy valuations and real estate used for agricultural purposes in order to ensure accurate valuations
- Affords assistance to other area personnel as required
- Keeps management informed of area activities and any significant problems or concerns
- Attends and participates in meetings and committees as required
- Completes special projects as assigned
- Attends assigned training sessions and stays current on new procedures and policies
- Promotes D.L. Evans Bank at all times and serves as a representative in the community
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree in related field preferred
- Five to eight years years of experience in an agricultural related field that includes experience with cattle including cow/calf and feeder operations, dairy, and row crop
- Understanding of valuation techniques for agricultural related commodities and of related market information
- Knowledge of Bank lending and collections programs, policies, and procedures required
- Strong interviewing skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
