We are looking for a User Experience (UX) Designer to support a higher education organization in Minneapolis, Minnesota through a long-term contract engagement. This role is ideal for a designer who enjoys shaping engaging digital experiences, contributing to enterprise design system initiatives, and partnering closely with technical teams to bring concepts into production.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with software engineers throughout the product lifecycle to align design intent with technical execution.
  • Build and evolve interface designs that balance usability, visual quality, and consistency across digital experiences.
  • Develop and maintain reusable components, shared libraries, and structured assets in Figma to support scalable design work.
  • Translate design patterns into product tokens and variables that improve consistency and prepare work for development handoff.
  • Contribute to enterprise design system efforts by defining standards that support production-ready implementation.
  • Use Figma connectors and related tooling to streamline the flow of design assets into code delivery processes.
  • Produce wireframes, UI concepts, and detailed layouts that communicate solutions clearly to stakeholders and developers.
  • Apply knowledge of accessibility and front-end design considerations to create practical, inclusive user experiences.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in UX/UI or product design roles.
  • At least 1 year of hands-on experience using Figma, including Figma Variables and component-based design practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to create high-quality user interfaces and present strong design system or enterprise design work in a portfolio.
  • Experience preparing design assets and documentation that support efficient developer handoff and production use.
  • Working knowledge of front-end development concepts to support effective collaboration with engineering teams.
  • Familiarity with wireframing and interface design tools such as Figma and Adobe XD.
  • Understanding of accessibility principles and user-centered design practices.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to discuss design decisions clearly with cross-functional partners.
