User Experience (UX) Designer

About the role
This full-time position is based in Fort Meade, Maryland, and involves leading the design efforts throughout the entire project lifecycle for mission-critical systems used by federal agencies. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in UX design, particularly within complex or enterprise-level environments, and will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams including engineers, subject-matter experts, and stakeholders. This role requires an active TS/SCI Security Clearance with a Polygraph.
Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, design, and development of user experiences for mission-critical devices, tools, and systems
- Establish and enforce interaction standards, usability conventions, and visual design principles across projects
- Collaborate with engineers, subject-matter experts, and stakeholders to gather, analyze, and refine user requirements
- Create wireframes, screen mockups, and prototypes to effectively communicate design concepts and system functionalities
- Participate in design trade-off discussions to balance usability, technical constraints, and mission objectives
- Analyze tools, platforms, and technologies to improve user interaction and system effectiveness
- Apply visualization and screen design expertise to deliver intuitive, accessible, and user-friendly interfaces
- Support the organization and stakeholders in understanding and adopting emerging interaction techniques and design approaches
Qualifications
- Ten (10) years of professional experience in User Experience (UX) Design
- Five (5) years of recent experience supporting or leading project lifecycle design efforts
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university (or four (4) additional years of relevant UX design experience on comparable projects)
- Proven experience designing for complex systems or enterprise-level applications
- Strong ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Knowledge of interaction standards, usability conventions, and visual design principles
- Experience developing wireframes, mockups, and prototypes to support system design
- Ability to analyze and incorporate emerging interaction techniques and visualization tools
